Dr. Stéphanie Mbella's Biography
Dr. Stéphanie Mbella is an educator with over 15 years of experience in college readiness and student success. She provides academic support services to help students improve their college success skills. Some of her work focuses on time management, notetaking, effective study habits, exam preparation, and test taking skills. Students who have worked with her have increased their level of engagement in their courses, retention in their program of study, and have graduated in a timely manner.
As an Academic Coach, Dr. Mbella has assisted families in the Washington DC area understand and navigate the American College Admission process. These interactions inspired her book The Immigrant Guide to the American Educational System: From High School to College. Students she has worked with have been accepted into various colleges across the country including American University, Columbia University, Cornell University, George Washington University, Howard University, Rice University, Spelman College, University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Maryland College Park, and University of Pennsylvania just to name a few.
Dr. Mbella earned her PhD in African Studies from Howard University in Washington DC. She is a holder of a Master’s in Education and Human Development from George Washington University (Washington DC) and a Master’s in Public Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit (Michigan). She completed her undergraduate program in International Relations at San Francisco State University (California).
